Dempsey's group will reportedly pay $9.15 million for Tully's...way more than the $1,000 he paid head cheerleader Cindy Mancini to pretend to date him in the moving 1987 film "Can't Buy Me Love."

McFoamy? McRoasty? Expect the stupid jokes to come hard and fast now that Patrick Dempsey is buying Tully's.

Technically the actor is the face of a group of investors that made the winning bid for the 20-year-old Seattle-based coffee chain at a bankruptcy auction; the Seattle Times says this deal went down after 10pm last night. Starbucks was also among the bidders, but wanted only half of Tully's 47 locations. McDreamy's group, on the other hand, is all in. Last night Dempsey tweeted, "We met the green monster, looked her in the eye, and...SHE BLINKED! We got it! Thank you Seattle!"

Dempsey plays supermegadreamhunk/surgeon Derek Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy, a show that is set in Seattle and also apparently still on the air. Can we expect egregiously meta product placement next season? The Times's editorial-side blog just wants to make sure he doesn't make the chain a giant success and then sell it to some owners in Oklahoma City.
