Most people just call him ET, but Tanaka is also the naming inspiration for one of T-Doug's upcoming eateries.

Word on the street is that T-Doug's establishments in the new Via6 complex at Sixth and Lenora will likely become reality late this summer. And I have bugged and pestered partner Eric Tanaka for updates so frequently and with such gusto that it's a testament to the man's sunny nature that he still takes my calls (sorry, ET).

Tanaka says final names are still being nailed down. Here's one fun update, though: The complex will have an Asian fusion restaurant called Tanaka-san, in honor of Douglas's co-executive chef, operations whiz, wearer of shorts, and mentor to just about every chef and cook within the company. For all these reasons and more, Tanaka is one of the 50 most influential Seattleites profiled in our April issue.

And according to the official Tom Douglas blog, Brian Walczyk will be the chef at Tanaka-san. Walczyk was most recently at Brave Horse Tavern, and before that Palace Kitchen. The good people of Seattle also find him easy on the eyes, so cross your fingers the restaurant has an open kitchen?
