The New Deals

By Jessica Voelker, James Ross Gardner, and Christopher Werner

COCKTAILS

Chapel
Yes, the Chapel scene is past its peak. All the more reason to admire the glam-goth beauty of the converted funeral home during the generally hush-hush hours of 5 to 8pm, when all of its many martinis are just $5. 1600 Melrose Ave, Capitol Hill, 206-447-4180; www.chapelseattle.com

La Isla
From 10pm to midnight at this Market Ave storefront, mojitos are a mere $3, while other well-wrought island faves—daiquiris, margaritas—are $5.50. While you’re there, don’t miss out on the Puerto Rican restaurant’s housemade empanadas, $2 each. 2320 NW Market St, Ballard, 206-789-0516; www.laislaseattle.com

Licorous
Come for the “dots”—$1 pretzel-bread sandwiches the size of potato chips—stay for the ever-changing $4 bartender’s choice of cocktail. There’s not a bad drink on the list (Tue–Thu 5–7; 10–midnight). 928 12th Ave, Capitol Hill, 206-325-6947; www.licorous.com

611 Supreme
A cute little Pike/Pine lounge that, from 4 to 6pm Sunday through Thursday, will serve you any of its stellar seasonal specialty mixers for $5. 611 E Pine St, Capitol Hill, 206-328-0292; www.611supreme.com

West Five
This West Seattle ’60s dive is known for cheap happy hour eats like sloppy joes and barbecue shrimp, but, well, yuck. We’re much more impressed with its two revolving specialty cocktails, just $4 from 4 till 6. 4539 California Ave SW, 206-935-1966; www.westfive.com

Capitol Club
Serving up tapas like sautéed mushrooms, patatas bravas, and fried calamari, the Moroccan-inspired den already has some of Seattle’s best food specials (5-7 daily), but Wednesday nights the deal is sweetened with half-price bottles of wine all night. On Sunday, happy hour lasts from 5pm till closing time. 414 E Pine St, Capitol Hill, 206-325-2149; www.thecapitolclub.net

Kushibar
This new Belltown purveyor of Japanese fare will sell you just about any tempura or skewered edible you can imagine for under $10, and a carafe of hot Hakutsuru sake for a cool $5—all during a happy hour that kicks off at 4pm and concludes at a scandalous 8pm. 2319 Second Ave, Belltown, 206-448-2488; www.kushibar.com
