A look from independent designer Jill Lindsey, a Seattle native now in New York

I’ve always assumed that Liz Weber named her annual fashion show and fundraiser Thaw because of the timing; it always falls right around this time of year, when the it really does feel as though the whole world is slowly (very slowly) defrosting. And sure that’s something to celebrate, but what Thaw truly fetes are the crop of young, up-and-coming designers in the Seattle-Portland corridor as well as a community that supports Huntington’s Disease Society of America.

This year’s show is Thursday May 6; entry is possible through Brown Paper Tickets.

One of the things that Seattle’s fashion community knows and loves about the event is its silent auction. In fact, Weber just calls the tables lined with local designer goods the Thaw Shop. Iconic jewelry from Kimberly Baker and one of those perfect fold-over clutches by Ampersand As Apostrophe represent the best of Seattle-centric shopping. In the live auction; custom, one-of-a-kind pieces by the likes of Paul Smith and a New York Fashion Week package, including tickets to Marc by Marc Jacobs and DKNY, make for pretty exciting bid-offs.

The designers in this year’s show include Jill Lindsey, a Seattleite recently replanted in New York, Michael Cepress, and Estonia native and current Eastsider Heili Aun Nalla.
