Fully clothed models just aren’t really your thing? Forbidden Fashion puts swimwear, lingerie, and underwear on good looking bodies and sends them down the runway.

This year’s event – it’s producer Eduardo Khawan’s third annual – takes place June 4 at 8:30 at the Fairmont Olympic. Those of you who already have a big red heart on your calendar that day, don’t fret. Forbidden Fashion takes place after Project Red Dress so you can totally do both — Nick Verreos is.

Expect to see revealing looks from Under U 4 Men, u/info:386/ Tininha’s Boutique, Retail Therapy, and more.

Tickets are available at Brown Paper Tickets.

Backstage at last year’s Project Red Dress: Rose Dennis and I with two models

Twelve design students, $200 worth of fabric, 16 hours to create the finished product, $3,000 worth of scholarship money, and one color: Red.

The third annual Project Red Dress competition is on Friday June 4 at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, the same gorgeous setting as last year’s smash success show. The evening begins with cocktails at 6:30; the fashion show is at 7:30. Tickets are available here.

While the stakes are high for the designers (Project Runway fav Nick Verreos will once again be among the judges critiquing their work, and in addition to the prize money, winners will also land an internship spot with Luly Yang and space on the pages of Seattle Met magazine), there’s plenty for audience members like you to get excited about as well.

Among this year’s raffle prizes: a Hawaiian getaway.

And then there’s the community at large. Proceeds from Project Red Dress benefit the American Heart Association.

What should you wear? Red, of course.

Thanks to Barbie Hull and Jeff LaPlante, there are a ton of great images from last Friday’s smash success Project Red Dress. So many, in fact, that I’m going to let them tell the story. Well, for the most part.

A little bit about what you’ll see here:

-The student designers from International Academy of Design Technology, the Art Institute, New York Fashion Academy (yep, that’s in Seattle – Ballard, actually), Seattle Central, and Seattle Pacific University are in black; just about everyone else was in red — except for me, because I wore coral. A vintage Lord & Taylor house-brand mini to be exact. Thanks for asking.

-Rosie Kohlmeier, of NYFA, and her structured, bow-front mini-dress took home the winning prize: $3,000 worth of scholarship money. That’s Rosie, and her dress, in the last image of the slide show.

-The designers dictated the entire look for their models; they gave the rad Gene Juarez Team Artistic (pictured here – you’ll know them by their tattoos and epic haircuts) inspiration sheets and detailed descriptions of how they wanted their models to look (you know, like on Project Runway).

-Pre-judging took place before the runway show at the Fairmont Olympic; at that time, we were able to scrutinize fit and construction and lining and inside seams and the like — when you see Nick all up in a model’s business, that’s what’s going down.

-Mr. Verreos always takes a runway stroll — stomp? — at these kinds of events; this time he took Brooke, from 92.5’s Ladies Room with Brooke and Monti with him (the ladies also emceed the show).

-Monir Zandghoreishi, chair of fashion design at IADT, dreamt up this event two years ago — she’s the one that looks like Persian royalty; the aforementioned Rose Dennis, one of the judges, looks like American royalty.

-Judging wouldn’t have been as precise and on-point without bridal couturier Victoria Glenn and Kirkland plastic surgeon Aysel Sanderson. You know they both know a thing or two about seams.

-Daniela Faget of Bella Signature Design created all the floral pieces, including the lil red floral dress. She’s the gorgeous brunette in the long red dress with the twisted halter bodice.

-The models are all signed with Seattle Model’s Guild

-Red Dress could not have happened without countless volunteers and fashion industry insiders donating their time; among them: Courtney Russell of Half Past Lavish and Kimberly Arrington from Clutch

-Jeff’s photos have his stamp on them, Barbie’s don’t. So if you fall in love with one or either or both, that’s the best way to tell who was behind the camera. Please visit their sites and/or blogs to see more of what they’ve seen.

oh, and to those of you who love the bottom line: we’re still waiting to hear how much money was raised for the American Heart Association.

Seeing Red

It’s time to get your tickets for this year’s Project Red Dress

You’ve got a full 21 days to find the perfect Little Blush Dress; this year’s Project Red Dress is on February 13 at the beautiful Fairmont Olympic Hotel.

Seattle’s Fashion Group International is the driving force behind this runway event; the most talented design students in the area compete to create the most glorious red dress while raising funds and awareness for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women initiative. In other words: It’s like a local Project Runway—right down to the fact that everyone’s favorite faux-hawker, PR alum Nick Verreos is flying in to help judge the designs. Tickets are on sale at the Project Red Dress site through Brown Paper Tickets.

And please know this: Last year’s party sold out.

But back to what you’re going to wear… Below are some images from the spring/summer 09 shows to inspire you … Go coral, (like the Lanvin frock at the top of this post) cardinal (as in the retro, long-sleeved Halston number below), ruby (or, ruby-ish, as in the Naeem Khan mini under that), rust (oh that Galliano…), or wine (the layered look by J. Mendel), just don’t, you know, show up in electric blue or something.
