WHERE: Bellevue Square Center Court

WHAT: The Bellevue Collection hosts an exclusive early-morning fashion show and several mini runways throughout the weekend to highlight this season’s tribal textures, candy-coated colors, and bold, graphic metallics. Terri Morgan of TCM Models will be styling looks from designers like 7 For All Mankind, Vince, Nordstrom, and many more Bellevue Collection resident brands. Click through their look book to preview the trends.

The early show—a kick-off, main event type thing—on April 21 includes catered breakfast from Top Pot Doughnuts and PinkaBella Cupcakes, and guests will leave with a swag bag full of gift cards and other goodies, including a $10 Bellevue Collection gift certificate.

Then, over the rest of the weekend, individual stores get a chance to send their looks to the main stage and show off their spring styles. The ten-minute mini-shows give style-seekers a closer look at what’s in-store this season at nearly fifty of the center’s shops.

WHEN: Check-in for the Saturday, April 21 main event starts at 8:30; show is at 9:00. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online. All profits from ticket sales benefit the Bellevue Arts Museum. Mini-Runways happen every fifteen minutes from 12–7 April 21 and 22.

Tim Gunn in Bellevue

So you think you’re a model? Here’s how to make it work on May 7 at a Gunn-hosted Bellevue Square fashion show.

Tim Gunn hosts a fashion show at Lucky Brand Jeans in Bellevue. Not pictured: You, among the runway models.

Somehow, between mentoring on Project Runway, serving as Liz Claibornes’ chief creative officer, preparing to host a new makeover show, calling out Anna Wintour’s behavior, and fighting fashion crimes as a comic book superhero, Tim Gunn made room in his schedule to come to Bellevue, hosting a runway show for Lucky Brand Jeans in Bellevue Square’s Center Court.

You can catch it on May 7 at 1pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Or, you can walk it. Both professional models and regular folks will walk the runway. There’s an open casting call from 4 to 7 on May 4 and 5 at the Bellevue Square Lucky store. Just bring your beautiful self—sales associates will have all of the paperwork on hand.

Even if you’re not into public fashion parades, there’s an opportunity to get face time with the style guru.

Shoppers who spend at least $100 at the mall’s Lucky shop get their picture taken with Mr. Gunn and receive a signed copy of his new memoir-meets-etiquette book, Gunn’s Golden Rules: Life’s Little Lessons for Making it Work. You must shop between May 1 and 7; and bring your receipt to the show.

What’s up with everyone moving into Bellevue Square? As of tomorrow, the new Ann Taylor store and the still-pretty-new Report Footwear shop will have a new neighbor: Vince.

You know the name if you shop at Nordstrom; it pops up at little boutiques too — kind of wherever draped jersey and slightly off knitwear can find a home for themselves. But the all-Vince all-the-time Bellevue store is the 16th such retail outpost for the eight-year-old brand.

If you, like me, love a good coed shopping experience you’ll want to make note of the fact that Vince offers dudely plaids and feminine biker jackets. Definitely something(s) for him and her.

IN OTHER RETAIL NEWS

Remember when Veritables in Mad Valley was having a sale to make room for change and we didn’t know too much more than that? I know a good deal more now. Design 10301, a now two-store collective (the first is in Bellevue, on Main Street) that houses Jarbo, the line of Seattle-based designer Sharon Roth, has cozied in. Veritables’ furniture and larger decor pieces are sold exclusively in the Bellevue shop; the Seattle store concentrates on gifts, accessories, jewelry, and smaller decor pieces and leaves room for vaguely Japanese-feeling boxy sweaters made of hand-dyed Italian wool that’s been cut and sewn in Seattle. More to the point: I bought one myself, which is what I meant by knowing a great deal more.

And there’s a new outpost of Urban Hardwoods down on First and Virginia near Peter Miller Books. The shop is called Urban House, though the neon sign says House Urban. Don’t let that confuse you. It’s what’s inside that counts: gorgeous reclaimed local wood fashioned into timeless furniture pieces. You can see a stunning example in our holiday gift guide if you’d like, but be sure to check out the real deal, too.

Oh, and Betty Lin, your favorite spot for marked-down off-season scores? Tell your friends in San Francisco all about it because they’ve got one down there now, too.
