Blog Spots
Fashion loves itsw para-professionals more and more every day (or at least every post)
In case, in your holiday fog, you missed the New York Times’ year-end piece on influential fashion bloggers and their place in the front row, now you’ve got the link.
But Seattle designers, fashion business pros, and bloggers alike should also read this piece on the Business of Fashion site which breaks down the rise of the laptop-toting laymen and women and makes a case for considering them not a trend but a bona fide resource.
We first talked about these style bloggers almost exactly one year ago here, and this past September Wear What When used the Neiman Marcus gala as an opportunity to share the talents of local street style photog Adam Sinding of the blog Le 21eme Arrondissement
Seattle: Sinding’s been our Scott Schuman, but if word on his streets and yours is correct, he isn’t long for this town — which could mean that one of our chief objectives in 2010 will be to find his replacement.

please see seattlecitystyle.blogspot.com – evolving into a street style blog
P.S. Why is Le 21eme Arrondissement Cap. Hill centric?
WWW: This is rather off topic, but was wondering if you know where I can get a good, sturdy umbrella? Mine just completely crumbled in the rain/wind this morning.
Hey Chris – there are always great umbrellas at Tuuli (see this post http://www.seattlemet.com/blogs/wear-what-when/tuuli-raincoats-102609/) but for slightly more male-centric models, I’d check out Ian. When I visited them a few months ago for this version of Spree http://www.seattlemet.com/style-and-shopping/articles/shops-clothes-1109/ they were showing me some cool options in classic plaids. Also – over the holidays my mother-in-law and I were in the South Lake Union area and Velocity Art + Design (always great) had some super nice ones there as well. http://www.velocityartanddesign.com/umbrellas-c-1381.html Hope you find something good!
Hi Graham – sure, yeah, we’ll keep an eye on your blog for more street style
-- sounds great. As for the question about Adam’s posts, of course I can’t speak for him, so I’ll just say it’s a blogger’s prerogative to choose his/her own subject matter, perimeters, and inspiration!saw the front row blogging article (very interesting!) and am off to read the other! thanks for the link, and happy new year laura! (ps – love le 21eme… he captures the BEST of unique seattle fashion – proof that we do have some!)
hey Cass – great to hear from you. would be interested to hear your take on things from the design blog (versus more straight forward style blogs) perspective! (readers check out http://cocokelley.blogspot.com/ if you are one of the two or three people who aren’t already tethered into cass’s world)
oh! (are you allowed to comment on your own posts?) another Seattle street style blogger on the rise: Kam Martin of Needle Plus Thread http://www.needleplusthread.com/ Kam’s images have just been getting richer and more wonderful since I first heard from her last year. Keep up the great pics, Kam – we’re lovin’ them!
Some of my favorite Seattle fashion blogs have sadly moved away…
Alpha Vomero of www.discofunbath.blogspot.com is now based in New York City. She started off snapping street style pics at fun parties in Seattle like Sing Sing at War Room, nights at Havana, etc.
Also Stacy Lucier of www.laboudoirblog.blogspot.com. Such an awesome gal, and she somehow mixes fashion with everyday highs and lows and it’s all relevant! Love it. She is now in San Francsico.
hey laura, thanks for the nod. i’ve enjoyed (ok, and cringed) at the obvious evolution my photography has taken. since the first picture i took (the first one on the blog) to my latest style bio with sanda from nordstrom, i’m happy with the significant transformation i’ve achieved over these 8 months. to more progress in 2010!
Hey OSIRIS, we gotta get your blog in the mix, too! a more dedicated and spirited lover of fashion you will not find, ladies and gentlemen, read her at: http://osiristhegreat.blogspot.com/ also — I didn’t know Stacy moved to SF — she was great, her and that adorable husband of hers sitting in the front row snapping pics at fashion shows and such. very sweet girl with a great eye. And KAM: seriously lady, it’s inspiring. you’re inspiring!
