Since closing her Virginia Street boutique in September 08, Amanda Rosenthal has kept La Rousse alive with wit, ingenuity, and what else?—style. Keep Saturday August 1st open if you’d like to see, more specifically, how.

Amanda’s modus operandi involves handpicking vintage pieces to mix in with current and emerging designers for her Capitol Hill showroom — which you can shop either online or by making an appointment.

Additionally, the enterprising shopkeep lugs her goods to neighborhood bars (in December 08 to Smith, on 15th) and style-n-beauty spots (more recently: Clementine, Spa Noir).

In post-modern, make-it-work terms, we call these pop-up shops.

This Saturday you can, and should, witness her popping up sidewalk-sale style at the Downtown Vain between noon and 6pm, showing off boxy but not boyish separates, graphic and bold accessories, and one-piece outfits capable of transforming an entire day. There will be discounts, good deals, and great times.
