Just Announced: Allsaints

Goodbye Coldwater Creek, hello directional kids wear and trend-aware basics for men and women

By next holiday season, all the little girls in Seattle will be wearing boyfriend jeans, courtesy AllSaints

This just in: Replacing Coldwater Creek on the corner of Fifth Ave and Pine will be the London-based retailer Allsaints Spitalfields. The 13k+ space should be occupied by fourth quarter this year — in other words, right as holiday season strikes its fever pitch.

13,600 square feet. Yeah. That’s big. Good thing Allsaints sells harem pants for men, women, and children. I gotta say: I’m most drawn to the brand’s kiddie collection. While I can never really settle myself with the whole fashion-forward mini-me thing (they have the rest of their lives to be trend-conscious … can’t it wait til they’re like 12 or so?), I am fascinated by it.

Paging Hipsters With Kids…

The Seattle store will indeed carry trend-focused design-styled pieces for the whole family. Which’ll make the shop, at the very least, more useful than the Oprah Fan Club-only Coldwater Creek.

um, i have a hard time calling a $250 dress a designer knockoff. when your prices are well above your ritzy anthropologie neighbor, knockoff better not be in your vernacular!

Hi Alithea, to be perfectly clear: it sure wasn’t AllSaints who called their stuff ‘designer knockoff’ — so we can’t say for sure whether or not that’s in their vernacular. (I’m somewhat unsure who you are addressing the comment to, though.) Perhaps what you’re reacting to are the prices in general? Now, admittedly I’m not a regular shopper at either, but I’m not convinced that AllSaints prices are “well-above” Anthro’s. Let me know — I’m interested as to what your feelings are.

hi laura!

sorry my original post wasn’t all that clear. i saw this: “The Seattle store will indeed carry what are basically designer knock-offs for the whole family.” and went to the website to check out what their stuff is like (considering i spend a fairly shameful amount of time browsing downtown store — i like new stuff on my radar). i usually associate ‘designer knock-off’ with stuff like forever 21 where quality is slim and artistic inspiration is less “inspiration” and more … uhh, stolen directly from artists. haha.

i immediately went to the dresses portion on their website (not even “premium dresses” which retail for more), and the majority of which fall between 180 and 250. anthro’s dresses are pretty firmly between 140 and 180, with of course a few outliers for both retailers. so, perhaps a price notch above anthro. but regardless, the “knock-off” part through me off in contrast to their prices.

their kiddie line is quite cute and i do wish them the best of luck. i was worried when i saw the lettering in the windows the other day, as its the same typeface and color that fireworks uses and all i could think was “oh god, 13,000 sq ft of license plate cd books and paper star lanterns”.
