Curiouser and curiouser at the Sorrento Hotel. The once elite hotel recently intro’d a happy hour and karaoke night and now they’re starting what they call the First Hill Block Party in the hotel’s courtyard area.

Friday nights from 3-8pm starting on July 10th (this week!) and running through the end of August, head chef Matthew Mina will be dishing street-food style menu including three-bite brats, ceviche, papaya salad, and beef and chicken sautees—all for less than $5. To wash down Mina’s block party treats: happy hour priced beers, wines, and margaritas.

There will also be live music, cocktail tables, and a raffle for prizes such as a free night stay at the Sorrento.

“This is our way of having some casual fun with the neighborhood,” Sorrento events representative Cristin Malone said in a phone interview. “As people are walking home from work, coming from downtown, wherever, they can stop by and have some fun and enjoy the great weather.”-Parisa Sadrzadeh

Brats! So good to see those on a menu. I thought I could only go to Deutscher bars to get them outside Wisconsin. Das is good.

Three-bite brat-eating contest this Friday at three. I’ll see you there, Wisconsin. Das is war.
