Rob Roy to Change Name (Again)

Your suggestions welcome.

Zane Harris, who co-owns Rob Roy with Anu Apte, told me last week that the couple plans to change the bar’s name by the end of the year. Harris says he’s keeping plans quiet: “not to be cool, but so that we can do one of those really cheesy ribbon-cutting ceremonies.”

Harris wouldn’t tell me what he’ll be changing it to or indeed even if he and Apte had settled on a name. In other words: your suggestions may still be welcome. So. What would you rename a bar that was just renamed last January? What would you name a bar designed by a woman (Linda Derschang) that looks like every young man’s bachelor pad fantasy? What would you name a bar that used to be a Night at the Roxbury bar with interesting decor, but is now an excellent cocktail bar that still looks like that Night at the Roxbury bar? I know there’s a perfect name out there. What is it?

If this were in Bellevue, I’d call it “McMansion Rec Room.”

Since it’s in Belltown, I guess I’d call it:

-“B&T” (Bridge & Tunnel)

-“Spikes and Skunkhair”

-“The Cougars’ Den”
