Boozing with the Easter Brunch Bunch
It’s a holiday designed for day drinking. Plan accordingly.
Tango on Capitol Hill has a special this Sunday, April 4 (or as Christians like to call it, Easter): a $5 tequila flight that includes Herradura Silver, Chamucos Reposado, and Cazadores Anejo. Nice.
Before you do that, though, you might want to go to brunch or something. Which is not to say you should delay getting your Easter buzz on. Head to Smith, for instance, for a pitcher of mimosas with your eggs Benedict (please note I did not say “eggs Benny,” and never will), or to Lola for its bloody mary with jalapeno-infused vodka, or a prosecco served with a scoop of—hello, delicious—sorbet.
That drink reminds me of Spring Hill and its grapefruit cooler: sparkling wine, fresh-squeezed grapefruit, and lillet.
If you come to find these places are booked come Sunday, check this master list of Easter brunches from Nosh Pit. And have a happy and buzzy bunny Sunday.

Where can I get a good greyhound?
Sun Liquor and the Hideout leap to mind, but those aren’t exactly brunch destinations are they? Spring Hill would do you right I’d wager. And how about 22? I think that’s what were are supposed to be calling 22 Doors these days. Banana mascarpone pancakes, know what I’m saying? The cocktails there can be a little shaky but they do alright with the juice drinks.
That picture is legendary! She looks like trouble. P.S. I always have good luck with the drinks at 22 Doors…Liberty has been great lately too!
Greyhounds sound great for brunch. Jess, besides a Bloody Buddy and the tired Mimosa, is there anything else that comes to mind for great brunch drinks? And I know that lots of people just have white wine…no thanks.
I like the greyhound question because it points to something that I believe strongly: breakfast and brunch are the best times for juicy cocktails. Tiki drinks—planter’s punch, mai tai—are great with a big plate of eggs. Mistralkitchen is the place for those.
Then of course you have your coffees—Irish and so forth. A lot of these are terrible, but a place like Presse, Bastille, Pichet should have the Italian liqueur nocello. Get them to put that in your coffee and you will really see Jesus this Easter.
Great! Maybe Sun Liquor will make me a pitcher of Mai Tais to take home for brunch.
