It’s Dine Around Seattle Time, People

(Pssst: Here’s where you’ll get the best deals.)

Alright, full disclosure: We’re helping sponsor the thing.

But we wouldn’t lend our name to it if Dine Around Seattle weren’t a solid promotion full of screamin’ deals for our readers.

The setup, in case you’ve been living in a neighboring galaxy: Every year during March and November, diners get three-course dinners for $30 at participating restaurants, Mondays through Thursdays. (Some also do lunches for $15.)

That means it starts tonight.

A good deal in some restaurants, three courses for $30 is a fantastic deal in others. Lecosho for instance—Matt’s in the Market founder Matt Janke’s Harbor Steps sensation—is so new your DAS visit will grant you foodie cred that’s dang near priceless.

Outlying destinations, like the spendy Palisade in Magnolia, Barking Frog in Woodinville, and Salish Lodge at the falls in Snoqualmie, offer their patented brand of special occasion dining at a fraction of the usual tab.

As for Seattle neighborhood charmers like 35th Street Bistro, Eva, and Stumbling Goat Bistro …well, sometimes you just need an excuse to cast a new eye upon an old favorite. Sounds like a good deal to us.

New Stumbling Goat Menu: Where are the Mini Burgers!?

Corn bisque, check. Steamed clams, check. Mini burgers…nowhere to be found.

This just happened:

I was reading the small plates menu posted on the web site of the recently reopened Stumbling Goat Bistro when it dawned on me: No mini burgers. Could it be? COULD IT BE? I read it again. Here was the white corn bisque, there was the heirloom tomato salad…nowhere were the lil burgs. Excuse my text message-style swearing but HFS, man. The Stumbling Goat without sliders?

For that brief second, the world went dark. When I regained consciousness, I picked up the phone and, panting, dialed the restaurant.

“Hello, Stumbling Goat Bistro!”

“Wha— um. Did you guys take the mini burgers off the menu? I just looked at the menu online [this is where my voice grew really shrill], WHERE ARE THE MINI BURGERS!?”

“They’re back on!” Said the blessed angel on the other end of the phone. The new burgers, she told me, will be served with blue cheese, stoneground mustard, and house-cured pickles, and while these new fangled accoutrements may require adjustment, the important thing is this: same perfectly succulent Angus beef, same adorable little buttery buns.

In other words, it’s going to be okay.
