The PB Dog gets its day

In this week’s issue of People magazine: a “Labor Day Special” page devoted to newfangled and novelty hot dogs, including one from Seattle’s own Po Dog.
The PB Dog features crunchy peanut butter, bananas, roasted peanuts, and of course a wiener, all on a brioche bun (recommended: a side of bong hits).
“It’s the ultimate flavor-texture combination,” reads a quote from Po Dog’s Laura Olson. Olson’s title is listed as “CEO.” CEO, huh? Hmmm. Is this little hot dog chain about to blow up?

The hot dog cart king gets an address
Posted by: Kathryn Robinson on Jun 17, 2009 at 05:00AM
You know Dante Rivera, whose Dante’s Inferno Dogs hot dog carts have blessed street corners from Ballard to U. Village, and every farmers’ market in between.
Now he’s gone and gotten himself an address: 5219 Ballard Ave NW, to be exact, just around the corner from where he usually sets up his cart outside King’s Hardware. Snacks! Ballard’s Bodega won’t replace his carts; just augment them with “upscale 7-11” items from Fritos and Junior Mints to specialty goods previously only available at local farmers’ markets. Goods like “Honey, I’m Home” ready-made salad dressings, and Pete’s Peanut Brittle.
A take-out window features his dogs—now available in the sorts of varieties a little permanency allows. Chili dogs, with chili imported from Rivera’s hometown of Detroit. Bacon-wrapped dogs, which are already proving the big draw.
Stopped in yesterday for a Boar’s Head weiner with bacon (and onions and jalapenos and brown mustard) and a chicken-apple veggie dog with ketchup. Big yums all around, with dogs so juicy they snapped when bitten. Apparently the chili, however, is temporarily AWOL…so be patient. First shipment came to the wrong address and spoiled.
And don’t tell ’em I told you, but this week to celebrate its opening, Snacks! is offering free soft-serve ice cream cones to all weiner-eaters.
