Portland’s Crème de la Crème Food Truck Heads for Seattle
Is this the start of something?
Remember how Nosh had heard Portland food trucks were eyeing Seattle? Well, here comes the first one.
As Eater reported on Monday, the buzzy Crème de la Crème is abandoning its Belmont neighborhood pod on September 24 and heading hither. When reached by phone this morning, co-owner Bianca Benson was hesitant to divulge details—a lot of considerations are up in the air and won’t be ironed out for several months.
Benson did say she and husband Michael are debating whether to start anew or import the Frenchy menu of escargot, baguettes and brie, and croque monsieurs that’s won over legions of fans, including the Oprah Winfrey Network. (Crème appears on the station in several weeks.) “Either way,” Benson promised, “it’s going to be awesome.” When asked what prompted the move, Benson mentioned Seattle’s newly relaxed street food regulations.
And how are Portlanders taking the news? Lots of “long faces around the pod,” says Benson.
Sorry, dudes. But not really.
