OpenTable Names Five Seattle Restaurants Among Its National Top 50

Same as New York, folks.

Tilth

One of the delectable options at Tilth.

In its annual diner’s-choice awards, the online restaurant reservation service OpenTable recently named five Seattle restaurants to its National Top 50: Cascina Spinasse, MistralKitchen, Spur, Staple and Fancy, and Tilth.

(Pssst: Four of these five landed on my upcoming list of the Top 25 Restaurants in Seattle, to hit news-stands end of next week. But which four…?)

The only regions to make a better showing were the Bay Area (with 10 restaurants) and Chicago (with six). And though we were a little puzzled to find the Greater Boston area tied with Seattle, we are most pleased to report that our other tie is with New York City.

I do find it somewhat chuckle-worthy that Spinasse is one of the spots that using OpenTable to secure reservations during peak evening dining is a no-go (similar to how Heavy’s Purple and others do things between 6:30-9ish) that they rated that highly w/ the service’s survey. Spur is a bit of a surprise to me here, I must admit.

Is there a link to the full list?

Do any Seattle restaurants have any Michelin stars? If so, does anyone have a list?

Thanks

The Herbfarm does David, but it’s in Woodinville.

David, no Seattle restaurants have received Michelin stars. The only North American cities the guide covers are New York, San Francisco and Chicago. We need to change that!

Seattle could not sustain a restaurant with a michelin star, diners are too focused on burgers, fish fry, salmon and half chickens.

I’m sorry Canlis would garner at least one star

Hey there Tom B, for the record, we do not block any slots at Spinasse. We keep all reservations available to Open Table and have many slots through the coveted 6:30-8 hours. We also keep the dining counter and a few tables unreserved for walk ins.

Hmm, I didn’t realize salmon isn’t a michelin star-worthy dish. Another reason why those particular ratings are only useful in knowing a restaurant will be expensive.

Hard to believe Mistral made the list. My husband and I usually rave about fine dining experiences in Seattle but we were served mediocre food at Mistral along with terrible service. A follow up email to the owner was ignored. On a happier note we just enjoyed a top notch dinner at Spinasse, well done!
