Nell’s Restaurant has released the lineup for its 2011 Chef Tribute Dinner Series, a string of multi-course dining events each honoring the original recipes of a significant historical chef.

All dinners cost $85, tax and gratuity additional, and all come with wine pairings and witty biographical commentary. The lineup:

March 2: Irma Rombauer (1877-1962), author of The Joy of Cooking.

May 10: Raymond Oliver (1909-1990), chef and owner of the historic three-Michelin star Paris restaurant, Le Grand Véfour.

June 2: François Pierre de la Varenne (1618–1678), one of the great chefs of the 17th century and author of the seminal La Cuisinier François (1651).

August 4: Julia Child (1912-2004), the beloved TV cook who introduced French culinary technique to middlebrow America. (Note: this one fills fast; more dates may be announced.)

November 9: Richard Olney (1922-1999), the American food writer and artist best known for his works on French country cooking.
