Burien Is Getting a Grand Central Bakery

Construction should be complete in early August.

An architectural rendering of the bakery.

Grand Central Bakery is opening a third Seattle storefront at 626 SW 132 152 Street in Burien. GCB partner Gabrielle Moorhead says the artisanal bake shop should be ready for business the first week of August.

Why Burien? For one, grocers in the area currently do not carry Grand Central goods (they’re readily available elsewhere), so the new hub will provide southern Seattleites with easier access. Burien is also burgeoning, Moorhead said, adding its strong sense of community and family is a real draw.

As for the bakery’s interior, expect plenty of exposed beams, communal tables, and reclaimed wood—Grand Central is aiming for “as green of a space as possible.”

I believe that should be 626 SW 152 Street not 132.

Have you heard any talk of the Pioneer Square GCB closing? I hope not. The line is a maddening snafu every time, but the salads are fantastic.

Hmmm, I haven’t. If it’s so busy why would it close?

Hi all – just a word from the GCB mouth (I am Gabrielle’s assistant) – The Pioneer Square GCB has no plans to close! While we are saddened by the exodus arounds us, such as Elliott Bay Books and Mary Megan Olander, we are staying put. This was the original GCB location, and this neighborhood is very near and dear to our hearts. And yes, that lunchtime line is certainly a good indication that we are very much wanted! We look forward to growing with the neighoborhood and welcoming new tenants into the Pioneer Square community in the coming months, years and decades. Please come say hello in Pioneer Square, Eastlake AND Burien!

Please excuse my spelling errors above!

I can’t wait for your Burien location to open! It will nice to have you in the mix. I tire of having to leave the neighborhood to get baked goods. You will have my business for sure.

Excited to hear about new store opening means more jobs. Are you hiring, if so, where should I look for position opening, how can I apply? Thanks.

I am so happy to hear you are coming to Burien. Thank you!

I can’t wait for your opening. I use to work downtown and often had lunch at Grand Central Bakery in Pioneer Square. My Sunday lunch group meets once a month for lunch at your Eastlake site. Now you’re coming to my own neighborhood. Super!

We are so excited to have you in Burien! When we first saw your sign we just couldn’t believe our eyes. The neighborhood will certainly support you and we are thrilled the neighborhood stores don’t already carry your products. Even if they did they wouldn’t serve your breakfast and lunch menu!!
WELCOME!
