Chocolate Box is no stranger to the pop-up philosophy, yet with Chocolate Box Express, a seasonal outpost planned for Pacific Place, the downtown confectioner is entering virgin territory.

“This is our first venture as an express,” explains general manager Susan Smith. "We were approached by the management a few years in a row and felt that this year the space was a perfect venue for our shop.” She’s talking about a corner of the ground-level storefront left vacant by Restoration Hardware.

Express is slated to open November 12 for weekends and then daily from November 25 through December 31. In addition to all sorts of loose chocolates, the pop-up will stock “best of” collections— “a mixed variety of our favorite chocolatiers”—as well as boxed offerings from artisan brands.

At the drinks counter, expect European sipping chocolate and a Box signature: hot cocoa made with Chocolat Vitale. For the cacao averse there’s Caffe Vita, pour-over style.
