Wayne Johnson Is Moving to Ray’s Boathouse
Andaluca loses its longtime executive chef.
Ray’s Boathouse, known for superb watery views and decades of archetypal Northwest seafood menus, is bringing in Andaluca chef Wayne Johnson to head up its kitchen, as well as its busy catering arm. You’ll recall that the restaurant’s former exec chef Peter Birk is now at Harborside, creating the seasonally oceanic menu at the re-concepted McCormick and Schmick’s on South Lake Union.
Johnson has been executive chef at Mediterranean-focused Andaluca (and its sibling establishment Oliver’s Lounge) since 1999. This summer he even did battle on Iron Chef America with a secret ingredient of cucumbers. According to the release sent out by Ray’s, his first day on the job will be February 6.
A rep from Andaluca says that the restaurant, located in the Mayflower Hotel, is currently in the process of searching for Johnson’s replacement.Tags: Ray's Boathouse, Andaluca, Shift Change, Wayne Johnson
