Met Pick: SAM Remix
This after-hours museum party has it all: DJs, cocktails, bearded ladies…
The party’s on at Seattle Art Museum.

Four times a year, the Seattle Art Museum stays open late, pours absinthe cocktails, has DJs and David tattoos, stilt walkers and bearded ladies. And art. It’s SAM Remix this Friday, from 8-midnight.
Remix highlights include:
—Music by DJ Freddy King of Pants.
—Wine, beer, and mixed drinks for sale, including a deceptively tasty absinthe cocktail.
—Kinetic “sculpture” installations by KT Niehoff’s Lingo Dance, as part of A Glimmer of Hope or Skin or Light.
—A drawing studio with live models.
—Juggling by Bernard Hazens from Teatro ZinZanni.
—A bearded lady competition, courtesy of the Beard and Stache Fest.
— A wandering accordionist, Philip Kobernik of Hey Marseilles, plus mixes created by local writers, critics, and artists—including our own Style editor Laura Cassidy —piped into the fourth floor galleries.
—Dog Years author Mark Doty leads a “My Favorite Things” tour of SAM’s galleries at 9:45, after his reading across the street at Benaroya. Patron-level ticket holders who attend Doty’s talk get free access to SAM Remix and a free drink.
And, of course, there are SAM’s exhibits by Imogen Cunningham, Alexander Calder, and Heide Hinrichs, to name a few.
See you there.

Are they still doing masquerade face painting? If so, I may be talked into it after enough drinks
You bet. I hope someone holds you to that, because the more people with faces painted, the better. In life.
Is there an age limit for this?
Yes, 18 and over.
I think you got your info wrong. I actually DJd the last SAM Remix, I’m not DJing this one. I dont think Riz is either…
Agh, sorry about that. We’ll note the change above.
