Sure, the Fremont Fair will be serve up copious food and libations. But if you seek refreshment before, during, or staggering home after this weekend's bacchanalia, here are some spots to consider.
Maria Hines's newest restaurant embraces the festivities that come with its Fremont address. Happy hour lasts until midnight on Friday and Saturday, which means $2 Moretti beers and food specials. Swing by at 10:30pm on Friday and enter an arancini-eating contest. The first eight people to sing up get to do battle for carb-swilling supremacy. Also, Agrodolce will have its usual weekend brunch from 10 to 2:30.
Almquist Family Vintners
Stop by this winery on Nickerson Street en route to the festivities for a bit of a party. Food truck Nomad Curbside will be there on Saturday from 11 to 5, Scarlet Parke and the Past Impending, will be performing, and there will be wine tasting and glass pours aplenty. Here's a sentence I always wanted to type: Naked cyclists taste for free."
One of the primest patios in Fremont will be ready with $10 buckets of beer, as well as all-day (and all-night) happy hour at the bar. A special Solstice menu will run all day, plying Fremonsters with buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches and spicy tots. Hunger is also bringing back its popular burger for the day. But here's where things get crazy: All dinner reservations from 6pm on get free parking in Hunger's lot. The weekend brunch, with its bottomless mimosas, is on as usual.
Le Bon Ton Roulé
The New Orleans–styled roadhouse is bringing Dixie back. I refer, of course, to the Louisiana beer, which hasn't made an appearance at Le Bon Ton for the better part of a year. A bucket of Dixie will be $15 on Saturday and Sunday.
The speakeasy will open early, at 11am, and start the day with Svedka bloody Marys. In fact, Peter Glick's trio of restaurants (Roxy's Diner, the BackDoor, and Pete's Fremont Fire Pit) are serving up Fremont Brewing beer and $5 Solstice shots at $6 Solstice cocktails made with Svedka vodka and Four Roses Bourbon. One dollar from each of these drinks will go to the Fremont Arts Council, which puts on the fair.

Same drink deals as above. The whole hot meal at last month's barbecue festival was so successful that the barbecue spot is recreating it for the weekend. A plate of pulled pork, beans, mac and cheese, veggies, Texas toast, and barbecue sauce runs you just $11. Sub in ribs or brisket for another $2.
Yep, Four Roses and Svedka drink deals again. Look for a special Solstice menu of about 30 of the diner's most popular items, rather than the usual array. This, says Glick, is to keep the crowds moving and assure you can actually eat something without a crazy wait.
Fremont's new beer and cider bar is running a happy hour from 4 to 6:30 throughought the weekend; it's also one of a handful of places in town serving beers from San Diego brewery Ballast Point, which just arrived in Washington this week to tons of beer geek fanfare. Brunch runs 11 to 3 Saturday and Sunday, and if you want to end the weekend on a more sedate note, Sixgill kicks off its Sunday night dinner program this weekend—roasted tri-tip with imperial stout steak sauce, mac and cheese, and corn on the cob will run you $15.
