Super-lucky town receives pool privileges.

Stairway at McMenamins’ Hotel Oregon

Earlier this week I posted that the McMenamins chain of pubs and haute hippie hotels hoped to build one of its groovy inns in a converted school in Downtown Bothell.

The City Council has approved plans, and is selling the property to the pub chain for $7 million, per King 5.

McMenamins will reopen the onsite swimming pool, and has decried that all the citizens of Bothell shall receive free membership for the next 15 years. Luckies!

According to King 5, the bar on premises will be called the Detention Bar. You know, because it is in a school house.

Vacationers to Bothell will be pulling their VW buses up to the hotel parking lot by summer of 2013. This will be the ninth hotel project from McMenamins, and the third created from a converted school house.

Why is the song "Sugar Magnolia" suddenly lodged in my head?
