Just a few years ago, the NFC West was considered the dregs of the National Football League. Now the division boasts the two odds-on favorites to represent the NFC in this year’s Super Bowl. The Seahawks and the 49ers take the field for Sunday Night Football on September 15 and the first of (at least) two meetings; meanwhile, the 12th Man will attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the loudest crowd roar at a sports stadium at the home opener.

Seems like an easy enough feat for this group of fans, right? We did, after all, once make so much noise during a Marshawn Lynch touchdown run, it registered as a small earthquake.

Acording to espn.com, the current record for loudest crowd roar is 131.76 decibels, set on March 18, 2011, during a soccer match in Turkey. "Fans of Turkey's Galatasaray S.K. club were given three chances to set the record and hit it on their third try. The Seahawks say Seattle's famed 12th Man has been measured at 112 decibels, louder than a power saw or rock concert but not much more quiet than a Boeing 747."

Volume 12, the group behind the world record attempt, thinks we can do better than a power saw. Tickets are on sale now—as are all single tickets for the Seattle Seahawks, as of 10am today.
