The scenic view at Sasquatch!'s main stage.

It had been evident for some time that the Sasquatch! Music Festival had room to grow. Tickets for this year's fest sold out in under 90 minutes. Yet when we talked to Sasquatch! founder Adam Zacks last month and asked if adding a second weekend was a possibility, he said, "There are no plans right now to double-down on the festival," and that doing so "would dilute the spirit of the event, and it sort of leans more toward greed." Well, something clearly changed between then and now.

Today it was announced that Sasquatch! will expand to a second weekend in 2014. Unlike Coachella, which added a second weekend in 2012, Sasquatch!'s two weekends will not be concurrent and will feature entirely separate lineups. The festival will transform a four-day event over Memorial Day weekend to two three-day fests over the Memorial Day and Fourth of July weekends. It'll be interesting to monitor how the shift affects the strength of each day's lineup and the available ticket packages, but it's hard not to be excited about the prospect of spending more Sasquatch! time at the Gorge.
