Flashback: Mad Season in the 1990s

In honor of Record Store Day this Saturday—that fateful day when we recall music we could hold in our hands—members of 1990s supergroup Mad Season will be at Easy Street Records signing their recently reissued album Above (deluxe edition) and the RSD Exclusive vinyl version. Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready and Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin, the remaining band members, told Billboard in February that the new expanded reissue of 1995's Above was far from planned.

"Eight months ago in our Pearl Jam vaults," McCready told Billboard, he found "tucked away in a corner was this Mad Season live at the Crocodile [in Seattle in 1995] tape. I forgot that we had recorded that, and that was our record release show. I thought, this is pretty good. " He adds that while "it was very painful to listen to it because [Alice in Chains' Layne Staley and bassist John Baker Saunders] had died" only a few years after it was recorded, "that sparked me."

The three-disc set also includes a DVD featuring the band's Dec. 31, 1994 and April 29, 1995 shows at Seattle's RCKNDY and Moore Theatre and three previously unreleased songs with new lyrics and vocals by former Trees singer Mark Lanegan.

Get to Easy Street early. The rockers will be in-store from 10–11am, and are only signing one item per customer.
