Hitchcock Madrona. It's one of the best places in the city (if not, in my opinion, the West Coast) to get excited about accessories; the selection is both international and local, and hits all points along the scale from bold and statement-making to quiet and sublime.

When your wedding-day look needs to bridge tradition and cutting-edge fashion, there is no better source than this neighborhood gem. Pun intended. Weddings call for stones and metals with integrity—even when what you're after isn't your mother's sapphire pendant.

All that said, it's no surprise that on my most recent visit, I walked in to find a beautiful example of a neo-classic wedding gift.

Weston Earth Images' silk-wrapped journals are made with enlarged digital prints of British photographer Richard Weston's gem photographs transferred on to pure silk, then hand-stitched and bound.

The above example, the back of the book tells me, was taken of a specimen of Munjina Stone, a type of jasper found only in Australia.

A journal makes a thoughtful gift for the wedding party, or for newly engaged or married folks. Or for one's self.

Hitchcock has the journals in several different colors—representing several different enlarged gemstone photographs—for about $50, as well as a collection of the brand's silk scarves.

Thinking of checking them out? You might want to do so this Saturday, March 22 as the shop celebrates spring with a whole day of champagne, small bites, and a celebratory look at all the coming season's new styles.
