BEERReuben's Brews: Thank You Thursdays (starts May 2)
Each Thursday, this most excellent Ballard brewery will donate $1 from each pint sold in its taproom to a specific charity or nonprofit. This Thursday is the debut and beers purchased between 3 and 8 will benefit local Ballard Montessori Pacific Crest School.
Seastar Bellevue: A Night With Duval-Leroy (April 30)
Chef Michel Brismontier from Duval-Leroy is in town and playing somm tonight, advising diners on the Champagne house's range of traditional and sparkling wines. Order them by the glass at special prices, and with specially paired dishes.
Bastille: Chablis Month (May)
Hey, look—tomorrow is May. And May at Bastille is all about these minerally, springy French wines. Somms Kristen Young and Alex Smith have set up a variety of ways diners can get acquainted, from flights to tastes to glass pours to the old-fashioned whole bottle. If youre feeling adventurous, ask for the blind tasting of two Chablis wines and a third from a different region and see if you can identify the odd man out.
SPIRITSLiberty: The 86co. Release Party (April 30)
Owner Andrew Friedman calls this one of the most noteworthy events Seattle's bar scene has witnessed in a while--and that dude's not easily impressed. Bartenders Simon Ford and Dushan Zaric (basically bartending's rock star equivalent) are hosting a public event from 7 to 9 to introduce us all to their new line of spirits, designed for mixing and to address some issues (like hard-to-handle bottle designs) that vex the men and women who sling them for a living.
