A scene at Rob Roy. Now Toni Collette and I have officially rested our elbows in the same place.

Last year, my esteemed former colleague Laura Dannen wrote about Toni Collette, Thomas Haden Church, and Oliver Platt filming a movie called Lucky Them in Belltown. Collette plays a music journalist tasked with hunting down her musician ex boyfriend, while Church comes along in hopes of making a documentary. Platt's her boss.

Lucky Them has an official release date of May 30, and an official trailer that includes scenes at Belltown cocktail den Rob Roy, and Capitol Hill gallery-bar Vermillion (sadly no relation), as well as an exterior of the Comet, pre-makeover. The movie also shot scenes in Fremont (right by Uneeda Burger) and Alki.

What's with these indie films involving magazine writers and Seattle? At least the trailer doesn't contain any comically unrealistic depictions of the profession, like Jake Johnson's character driving an Escalade in Safety not Guaranteed.

The local debut is June 13-19 at Northwest Film Forum. Here's the trailer.
