Two big kudos for our food writing came in yesterday from the good folks at the City and Regional Magazine Association.

In the annual national awards competition drawing entrants from 34 regional magazines across the country, held in conjunction with the esteemed Missouri School of Journalism (and judged by representatives from the Atlantic, Esquire, New York Magazine, and others), Seattle Met grabbed seven nominations for excellence in 2013—including two for food and drink coverage.

Allecia Vermillion, who heads up Nosh Pit—don’t look now but you’re reading it—was nominated in the category of Best Blog Column. Kathryn Robinson, our restaurant critic, was nominated in the category of Best Food or Dining Writing. (Just so you know, Robinson’s reviews submitted were for the Wandering Goose, Westward, and November’s Best Restaurants issue.)

While we’re on the subject, we should mention that the whole mag was nominated in the Big Kahuna category of General Excellence, a nomination that arose from our submission of our July, August, and December issues. July highlighted our Burgers, Hot Dogs, and barbecue feature (remember that huge juicy burger on the cover?); and December starred our Beers of Winter feature.
