Mioposto, the wood-fired pizzeria that's an institution in Mt. Baker, is readying a second location at 3426 NE 55th Street, the space most recently home to Taverna Mazi.
Owner Jeremy Hardy says the menu will strongly resemble the lineup of pies, panini, and small plates at the original Mioposto. You'll just be eating your bacon-and-egg breakfast pizza or eggplant parmesan beneath a big chandelier, in a space with 14-foot ceilings—a slighty different feel than the cozy cafe vibe down in Mt. Baker.
The new location is on track for a June 12 open. Hardy says service kicks off at 7am (8am on weekends) for espresso, pastries, and the breakfast menu (the bread for the breakfast sandwiches will be baked in house).
Lunch and dinner will happen seven days a week. And most of it comes from the kitchen's only cooking appliance, a giant wood-fired oven custom made by Woodstone, a major player in the world of fancy restaurant ovens that just happens to be located Bellingham.
This location seems like a good fit for Mioposto's brand of kid-friendly, drop-in-on-a-random-Tuesday dining. The lineup of cocktails, beer, and wine ensures it will be parent-friendly, too.
