Singer-songwriter Kris Orlowski and his band can't catch a break. Earlier this month, the Seattle musicians were robbed of their touring equipment for the third time. Brazen thieves lifted an expensive keyboard, amplifier, even a puffy coat from the tour van. But maybe third time's the charm, in a weird way? Because now the Seattle music scene has his back. Ziibra (a new music startup site we'll have more on shortly) is hosting the "We Were Robbed" benefit show for Orlowski and his band April 29 at Tractor Tavern and the lineup is loaded. In addition to a performance by Orlowski, the concert will feature stripped-down sets by Allen Stone, John Roderick (the Long Winters), Meagan Grandall (Lemolo), Daniel Blue (Motopony), Shelby Earl, Matt and Mike Gervais (Curtains For You), Wayfarer, Jacob James (Ships, the Lashes), and Ryan Devlin (Smokey Brights). All that and tickets are only $10.
And there's more happy news to report. As this post was being written, Orlowski posted on Facebook that a local pawn shop heard about his story and found 80 percent of the stolen gear. The benefit show will go own, with extra proceeds going to nonprofit MusiCares.
