If thousands of tweens are to be believed, the biggest event of the weekend (the summer?) happened at the downtown Nordstrom last Saturday when Kendall and Kylie Jenner—of the Kardashian/Jenner klan—stopped by to launch their shoe and handbag collaboration with Steve Madden.

The first fans were outside at 2:00 in the morning. Take that compared to Sarah Jessica Parker's visit, where a queue didn't start to form until 6:00, the time at which the KK line was over 100 deep.

We sat down with the sisters for a pre-appearance interview and stuck around for their explosive debut below.

First things first: Don't expect anything juicy, here. Certain topics were off the table, so this was strictly a shoe conversation (not that it wouldn't have been anyway).

And when it comes to the shoes, neither of them were super clear on their role in the collaboration, only to say that they were "happy because Steve Madden really listened to our input and design choices," said Kendall.

Shoes run at an approachable $40-100, with most styles featuring sky-high platforms and heels. Kylie's favorite pair—and mine too, actually—a chunky '90s-style white boot with a black sole, isn't available online yet, but expect to see them as Nordstrom rolls out its full fall lineup.

Kendall told us that the duo has similar style, but Kylie is a little harder (though Kendall quipped that she can be edgy, too), which makes it easy for them to work together.

To answer some of the questions I've been asked in the days since the interview:

  • No, the girls aren't snobby. They're polite enough, with maybe an air of teenage disinterest we've all been guilty of.
  • Yes, they are both especially beautiful—and tall!—in real life.
  • No, Lord Disick was not in tow.

If you think game days at Quest Field are loud, you should have been there when the shoe department erupted as the sisters made their grand entrance. I'm pretty sure I saw a little girl crying.

And however you feel about reality TV, the girls themselves, etc., it's truly hard to deny our luck in having Nordstrom HQ at the heart of this city, bringing in the shriek-inducing likes of the Jenners, 50 Cent, Charlotte Olympia, SJP, et al.

Shop the Kendall and Kylie Madden Girl collection in stores and online now, and stay tuned for Nordstrom's next big celeb appearance.
