Ethan Stowell today announced the newest addition to his growing empire—and no, we’re not talking about Red Cow or Noyer. In further perpetuating Ballard’s nautical theme, Chippy’s Fish and Drink, an old-school fish-and-chips joint that will also serve clam chowder, crab rolls, fried oysters, shrimp Louie, and the like, is moving into the former Dutch Bike Co. at 4741 Ballard Ave NW, conveniently next to Staple and Fancy. There will, of course, be drinks: eight beers on tap, plus a full bar.
Space will be limited: Dutch Bike Co.’s back bike repair shop was converted into Barnacle last year, and the remaining newly vacant cafe space will leave room for just 18 seats on the floor and an additional eight at the bar.
We knew something was fishy (har) when Stowell told us his food trend prediction for 2014 was fish and chips. Stay tuned for details as they develop. Right now, the camp is aiming at a March opening.
