The Northwest Film Forum has announced its new program director, and it appears that she’ll bring a little international flavor to the position. Courtney Sheehan will take over programming at NWFF in November and her cinematic lineup will begin next February.
Sheehan is the co-founder and creative director of Cine Migratorio, a migration themed film festival held in Santander, Spain, and has also guest programmed film around the world—Croatia, India, Netherlands, etc.—after earning the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship for international research. She also has experience with NWFF, having worked as an intern for Children’s Film Festival Seattle in 2009.
Former program director Adam Sekler announced in May he’d be leaving NWFF after being on the job since 2005. We already conducted an exit interview with Sekuler as part of our Fall Arts Preview, and he’s programmed the film slate through the end of January.
