Imagine this in a way better-looking box. Photo via Bloom Bento.

This morning, Bloom Bento’s Jason Harris sent word that he has an opening date—March 12—for his lunchtime pop-up in Fremont. As of that date, you can find him at Kylie’s Chicago Pizza on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10 to 2, selling Japanese-style lunchboxes filled with koji bacon, pickled vegetables, sunomono rolls, and more.

On Fridays, Harris will deliver bento boxes to anyone lunching in the Fremont area (well, anyone placing a minimum $30 order). The chicken and bacon bento box will run you $9.50 and a vegetarian version with soba noodles is $8. An additional $1.50 deposit helps ensure you return his cunning little lunchboxes.

Since Harris—a veteran of Chiso, Sushi Kappo Tamura, and most recently Showa—is only making 40 boxes a day, he says patrons have already started placing reservations via his website. Otherewise, follow the usual social media suspects (Twitter and Facebook) for info on availability each day. Harris's long-term plans involve more pickup locations and hopefully four walls of his own some day.

Oh and in other pop-up news, the guys at Kraken Congee have released a menu for their debut dinner. And if that isn't enough pop-up discussion for you, here's me trying not to be awkward (or rack up any FCC violations) on KIRO's Seattle Kitchen, talking pop-ups with Tom Douglas, Thierry Rautureau and the lovely Katie O.
