The latest word on Joshua Henderson’s new project, Westward, is it will open sometime midsummer, aka July or later. But Zoi Antonitsas, the executive chef at this “water-inspired” restaurant on the north shore of Lake Union, is doing a preview dinner at the Vude on June 1.
This is reportedly the only preview dinner Henderson and Antonitsas are doing for Westward, so get your tickets right over here if you’re interested. The $125 dinner includes multiple courses and wine pairings from Vude’s sibling outfit, Hand of God wines. I hear some items on the menu include freshly shucked Treasure Cove oysters with a pink pepper and rhubarb mignonette, and lamb leg from Anderson Valley, grilled over spruce and bay wood.
Local spirits writer/guru Maggie Savarino is creating the bar menu for Westward and its sibling market and oyster bar Little Gull; look for a little preview from the Westward cocktail list to be served that night, too.
Cross your fingers Westward opens in time for us to log some hours on that waterfront deck (I officially have two months to make a friend with a boat). Meanwhile, Henderson is also busy with the second Skillet Diner location under construction in Ballard, and his Hollywood Tavern project that will soon be slinging excellent cheeseburgers and brown liquor out in Woodinville.
