Nosh Pit Weekly Planner: August 19–26
This week: pet some puppies and kittens and miniature donkeys, or enjoy some face-melting grunge rock in a parking lot. Either way, there will be snacks.
TUESDAY, August 19
Gordon Biersch Anniversary Celebration
The Gordon Biersch restaurant in Pacific Place will celebrate its 15th birthday with a daylong celebration in the newly remodeled bar and dining room. Beers will be $0.98 all day long, and growler fills will cost $4. In the evening, there will be regular happy hour offerings alongside live music.
Food Truck Food Drive
From 11am–2pm Tuesday through Thursday, some of the city's most beloved food trucks will congregate near Bellevue's Paccar Tower for a drive benefitting Food Lifeline. $1 from each entree sold from trucks like Off the Rez, Skillet, Where Ya At Matt, and Poke to the Max will go toward Food Lifeline's hunger relief programs. A full list of the 18 participating trucks and a donation link can be found online.
FRIDAY, August 22
Party with a Purpose at Frost
In collaboration with local blogger Dawn Smith, Frost's Mill Creek dessert lounge will bring together wine and sweets in the name of cancer research. From 5pm–8pm, a donation of $5 to Seattle Children's Hospital's pediatric cancer research division will get you a glass of wine, and a $5 more is good for a party swag bag. There will also be a doughnut decorating station for the kids.
Seattle International Beerfest
Three days of beer revelry in Seattle Center's Fisher Pavilion kicks off this Friday. More than 200 beers from around the world will be available alongside a bluegrass-heavy live music lineup. Basic advance tickets are $25 online, which includes 10 tasting tickets and a commemorative glass, and additional tickets will be available for $1 each. As a bonus, some of the proceeds will benefit Pet Cross, so puppies and kittens will be on hand for impromptu snuggling.
SATURDAY, August 23
Snoqualmie Ice Cream's fourth annual Ice Cream-O-Rama will take place at the creamery's Snohomish scoop shop in Maltby from 11am–3pm. $1 bites of ice cream, snacks and drinks will be available for purchase at the event. The Not-Its and the Harmonica Pocket will provide live music, and there will be an Instagram photo booth and a beer garden from Bellevue Brewing Co. Oh, and keep the miniature donkeys away from your miniature ice cream sandwiches.
Local bands Tacocat, Chastity Belt, The Young Evils, Kithkin, and Thunderpussy will be bringing their energetic live sets to the parking lot behind Linda's Tavern for a free show from 5–10pm. Food and drink specials will be available all night long, and the Rainier is sure to flow freely.
Waffle Day at Tilth and Agrodolce
On Saturday and Sunday, Maria Hines' organic restaurants will offer specials for National Waffle Day. At Agrodolce, $5 Negroni waffles with campari syrup and juniper can be washed down with some bottomless mimosas. Over at Tilth, the specials will be more on the savory side, including sourdough waffles with smoked chicken gravy, fried eggs, and preserved lemon.
SUNDAY, August 24
Celebrate Little Saigon
This fourth annual cultural festival in the International District's Vietnamese neighborhood will offer cooking demonstrations from Tamarind Tree, pho and cream puff eating contests, Vietnamese dancing, and family-friendly games from 11am–6pm. Local restaurants will also open their doors and offer specials (here's hoping for Huong Binh's chao tom). The event was organized in partnership with both Friends of Little Saigon and Tet in Seattle.
