Cafe Nordo finally settles down, Von Trapp's gets renamed, and you can now get your Hilliard's beer with biscuits, for brunch.

Wait, you still haven’t heard? Von Trapps is no more, but still open for business. Confused? According to the press release sent out yesterday morning, a member of the von Trapp’s, of Sound of Music fame, raised concerns about Seattle’s favorite biergarten being confused with the Trapp Family Lodge, a mountain resort in Vermont. Respecting the request to change the name, owner Deming Maclise has now dubbed the Capitol Hill mainstay, Rhein Haus. We don’t really care what it’s called, as long as there’s bocce ball and the bartenders are still suggesting things like adding a shot of tequila to a Stiegl Grapefruit Radler.
BRUNCH. At the brewery. We told you yesterday, and we're going to remind you again today. The food truck idea isn't new to Hilliard's, but The Biscuit Box is new, and we like new and shiny. Along with the doughy-fare, Mmmhmm Coffee will offer up thier best cup of joe from 11am-3pm every weekend until it's not so nice outside anymore, you know, end of September. It may seem like you have time, but not for long, so come and get 'em while they're hot.
A collaboration between two Pike Place Market vendors can only mean one (okay, two) thing(s): fresh ingredients and inventive dishes. Eater Seattle reported that Darlene Boline and Cajetan Mendoca’s bistro and bar has now opened, and has a focus on comfort food, but not just your run-of-the-mill comfort food. Combining Boline’s French and Italian focus with Mendoca’s Indian, Goan, and Portuguese influences sounds like our taste buds are going on one trippy adventure.
The guys behind Local 360 have opened up shop in Bellevue and we're not going to argue with the menu offerings. It's heavy on the burgers and the happy hour offerings look extremely promising. With an emphasis on local, fresh ingredients, like its Belltown counterpart, Local Burger will bring you the best the season has to offer from the farmers and artisans in the area. The menu features PB&J bon bons in both the starters and desserts sections of the menu; like us, these guys don't follow conventions. Go ahead, have some bon bons before AND after dinner.
The Bellevue location was closed almost a year ago, but the new Seattle location of this causal Korean restaurant is set to open Tuesday, August 19. The mainstay of the menu is the bibimbap, a rice dish with vegetables and your protein of choice. From the reviews we've seen, Bellevue sorely misses Oma Bap, so a visit might soon be in order.
The travelling culinary troupe has finally found a permanent home. A five-year lease has already been signed for the Globe Building, formerly home to Elliott Bay Book Company, in Pioneer Square, but fundraising is still happening for the interior of the venue. With hopes of opening the Culinarium in the fall, Cafe Nordo has already raised nearly half of their goal of $250,000. Historically, the imaginative menu focuses on fresh, local ingredients, so this dinner-and-a-show experience will surely bring something new and fresh to the area.
We've checked the answering machine ourselves and it's true; the family pizza joint has bolted the doors. It's always a shame to see another pizza place go out of business especially because we all know the world would be a little bit brighter if only there were enough pizza to go around. But after three years in the business, this kid-heavy haunt isn’t looking so Pritty anymore.
