Remembering Bruce Lee at the Pine Box
In July of 1973, friends and family gathered at a Capitol Hill funeral home to honor Bruce Lee in the wake of his sudden death at age 32. That funeral home is now the Pine Box, and 41 years after the first gathering, the beer bar is hosting a free showing of Lee’s films Fist of Fury, The Way of the Dragon, and Enter the Dragon. The first film starts at 5:45, and if you stick around until 11pm, you can catch the (awkwardly cobbled-together) final fight scene from the posthumously released Game of Death.

Christmas in July at Linda’s Tavern
The crew at Linda’s will be tapping into their tucked-away collection of holiday beers and ciders all day Thursday. Full Sail Wassail Winter Ale, Anchor Steam Christmas Ale, Seattle Cider Co.’s New England Style Cider, and four other holiday drafts will be available for just $2 a pint.

Green Plate Special Event at Capitol Cider
Capitol Cider’s month-long fundraiser for youth gardening and cooking nonprofit Green Plate Special is culminating in a celebration from 6–9pm. The John Sinclair Jr. Ensemble will provide the live music, and there will be a raffle for a box of produce from Green Plate Special’s garden and a gift package from Sixknot Cider. Raffle tickets will be given to everyone who has purchased food or cider specials in the month of July.

MONDAY, August 4

AAJA Chefs’ Showcase
This fundraiser from the Asian American Journalists Association will feature an impressive lineup of local chefs, including French Laundry alum Lisa Nakamura, Rachel Yang of Joule and Revel, and Prometheus Brown of the monthly pop-up Food and Sh*t (oh, and half of Blue Scholars). Murray Stenson and Seattle Times happy hour columnist Tan Vinh will be on hand, too. The event will take place at the Columbia Tower Club from 6–8, and $50 general admission tickets are available online.

TUESDAY, August 5

Seasons of Seafood Albacore Dinner
In this month’s installment of Bryan Jarr's Seasons of Seafood dinner series, the delightful Taichi Kitamura of Sushi Kappo Tamura will have his wicked way with some locally sourced albacore. The four-course meal will feature drinks by cocktail expert Maggie Savarino. The dinner starts at 7 in the Pike Place Market Atrium Kitchen. $90 tickets are available online.
