WEDNESDAY, July 2
5 Point Cafe’s 85th Birthday
That’s right, the Prohibition-borne granddaddy of Seattle diners is turning 85, and it's celebrating with deep discounts all week long. FRIDAY, July 4
Fireworks at Westward
There are tons of places to watch the Lake Union fireworks, obviously. But this Hamptons-esque waterfront seafood house will pull out all the stops for the Grand Old Fourth, including a paella dinner, drinks aplenty, a DJ, and “a few surprises.” Hmm. Oh, and a spectacular view of the pyrotechnics. Nautical attire is encouraged for the event, which benefits Food Lifelife. $175 tickets are available online.
Barbecue at the Swedish Club
On the other side of Lake Union, Queen Anne’s Swedish Club will have barbecue from Smokin’ Pete’s catering company, a live music set by Lushy (“bossa beat–flavored alterna-pop,” for the curious), dessert, and a fireworks viewing. Parking will be available onsite. $50 tickets are available online.
Vegan Barbecue at Plum Bistro
Yes, you can eat well on Independence Day even if burgers and brats aren’t your thing. Vegan Capitol Hill eatery Plum Bistro will be serving up mini-burgers, “mac and yease” (it’s tasty, trust us), salad, and dessert. $10 reservations may be made by emailing email@example.com.
SUNDAY, July 6
Stand By Me at King’s Hardware
King's Hardware's weekly summer movie series will begin with this 1986 classic, which will start showing on the heated back patio at sundown. The full pub menu will be available, but be sure to bring your own cherry Pez.
Sicilian Supper at Tavoláta
New chef Addam Buzzalini will serve up a grilled Sicilian meal for this month's communal Sunday Feast. The $65 family style meal will feature grilled squid with couscous, sardine bucatini, Castelvetrano olive–braised leg of rabit, and candied fruit cannoli. Call 206-838-8008 for reservations.
MONDAY, July 7
The lastest in the monthly experimental series over at Seattle Met restaurant of the year will revolve around its also-excellent walk-up window, "Mamnoon Too." The window will dispense new items all day, including mint lemonade slushies, Turkish coffee ice cream sandwiches, and plenty of shwarma.
