Macklemore Gets His Own Mariners Bobblehead
These figurines are more likely to end up on eBay than in a thrift shop.
As the relatively modern cliché goes, every rapper wants to be an professional athlete and every pro athlete wants to be a rapper. Macklemore will come pretty close to sports stardom when the Mariners host Macklemore Bobblehead Night on June 12. The first 30,000 fans through the Safeco Field gates for that night's showdown with the New York Yankees will receive their own mini Macklemore.
Many Seattleites first became aware of the MC when he released the 2010 single "My Oh My," a song that paid tribute to deceased Mariners broadcaster Dave Niehaus. The figurine commemorates the Opening Day performance by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on April 8, 2011. The game will also mark the final Seattle appearance by future Hall of Fame Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter (who has substantially less defensive range than the bobblehead).
