Nosh Pit Weekly Planner: June 11–17
This week: Whether you're into beer, wine, or spirits, we've got a boozy event for you.
THURSDAY, June 12
Claudia Lucero at Book Larder
Cheesemaking may seem like just another more-trouble-than-it’s-worth DIY trend, but Lucero is looking to change that with her book of 16 easy cheese recipes. She'll be showing off a favorite recipe from her book One Hour Cheese, answering questions about cheesemaking, and signing books from 6:30–8. The event is free, but RSVPs are still required.
FRIDAY, June 13
2014 Washington Brewers Festival
The ninth annual Brewers Festival will bring 88 craft brewers to Marymoor Park in Redmond to pour samples of more than 330 of the state's best brews. The 21-and-over Friday festivities begin at 4pm, and AC/DC tribute band Hell’s Belles will start a live set at 7:30. The Saturday and Sunday sessions are all ages. Tickets are available online or at the gate.
SATURDAY, June 14
Virtual Tasting at Total Wine and More
Wine retailer Total Wine and More has partnered with Caymus Vineyards to hold a guided tasting via webcast in celebration of the 40-year anniversary of the vineyard’s cabernet. Vintner Chuck Wagner will highlight five Caymus wines and share the history of the vineyard. There will also be a 15 percent discount on Caymus wines for the day. The tasting will be held at several Seattle-area Total Wine and More stores, including the Bellevue, Tukwila, and Federal Way locations. $20 tickets are available online.
SUNDAY, June 15
Father’s Day Festival at Seattle Distilling Co.
This Vashon Island craft distillery will be hosting a lineup of local musicians to benefit Vashon Island Pet Protectors. Andrew Will winery and Seattle Distilling Co. spirits will be available alongside La Biondo Woodfired Pizza (and some snow cones for the kids). The event starts at noon with a performance by the superbly named band Poultry in Motion.
Father's Day in General
Pot roast at Volunteer Park Cafe. A crawfish boil at Bookstore Bar. Kylen McCarthy cooking at E. Smith Mercantile. A blow-it-out $75 six-course man menu at Crush. Getting wasted with dad over some chicken-fried steak at Linda's Tavern. These are but a few of the Father's Day events happening around town.
