WEDNESDAY, May 7
Hawaiian Night at Miyabi 45th
Chef Mutsuko Soma will be serving up an island-inspired menu, ukulele player Hiroshi Okada will be roaming, and many an umbrella drink will be poured at Miyabi 45th, Wallingford's sleek Wallingford soba-loving gastropub. Just don’t look out the window at the steady Seattle drizzle. Call 206-632-4545 for reservations.
Monsoon's Mark Ryan and Sleight of Hand Wine Dinner
Monsoon owners Sophie and Eric Banh will welcome winemakers Mark McNeilly from Mark Ryan Winery and Trey Busch from Sleight of Hand Cellars for a $145 five-course wine dinner at Monsoon East in Bellevue. They’ll also pour out samples of Idle Hands wine, which the two created together. The meal starts at 6:30 with a crispy Saigon shrimp ball and Sleight of Hand 2013 Magician’s Assistant. Reservations can be made online.
THURSDAY, May 8
Pie-Eating Contest at Dahlia Bakery
Where would be better to celebrate National Coconut Cream Pie Day than at Dahlia Bakery, whose triple-coconut variety has long earned accolades? Brave participants will tuck in outside the bakery for the chance to earn prizes. There will also be specials for those who’d prefer their pie in single slices. More info right over here.
SATURDAY, May 10
Lunch at the Shop at London Plane
Bookstore owner Peter Miller will be teaching a class with Matthew Dillon inspired by Miller’s daily lunch ritual. Over the course of two hours at London Plane, they’ll make a week’s worth of lunches and sign copies of Miller’s book, Lunch at the Shop. $125 tickets can be purchased online.
TUESDAY, May 13
Sounders Dinner at Metropolitan Grill
The annual Celebrity Waiters Dinner at the Met will be staffed by players from Sounders FC. From 6:30–8 they’ll be serving up the Metropolinan Grill’s usual dinner menu as well as a few specials, like St. Louis ribs and a Sounder Manhattan with sour apple liqueur and angostura bitters. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Call 425-220-1125 for reservations.
