Bastyr University students may not all live in the U District, but the Bastyr Student Nutrition Association provides a monthly meal to the neighborhood's homeless youth through Teen Feed. They couldn't do it without funding their efforts with events like this Saturday's Top Chef contest.
With a $15 ticket you can watch the competition, taste samples, participate in raffles and food trivia games, and bid on silent auction items from the Sounders, Canlis, and more.
Top Chef Bastyr, Sat, Apr 19, 6:30 pm, Bastyr University Dining Commons, 14500 Juanita Drive Northeast, Kenmore, WA 98028, $15.

Working Democracy: Labor and Politics in an Era of Inequality
The University of Washington is hosting several discussions next Friday afternoon and evening centered on the impact of growing inequality in America. Five panels featuring national experts and Seattle-area professors and community figures make up the day's events, with plenty of seating for those interested in learning about the issue of income inequality.
The speakers will focus on the root causes of inequality rather than the policy arguments that have come to dominate the national conversation.
Working Democracy, Fri, Apr 25, 1-9:15 pm, University of Washington Student Union Building room 250, free.
