This Week in Happy Hour: Five Days of Bar Trivia
Survey says: drinks are on the menu.
For nerds who love flaunting their smarts and love drinking while doing it even more, make a week of it with these five trivia joints.
Trivia night starts at 6pm, a little earlier than most, at this stylized speakeasy-type tavern in SoDo attached to the clubby Aston Manor. First place wins $10 off the tab, second wins $5 off. Correctly answer the bonus questions and your team gets free beers. It is free to join in, but there is a team limit of six. Regular happy hour is from 4-6pm Monday through Friday and offers $3 Manny’s and glasses of house red wine in addition to a $3 off menu featuring such items as the Kobe beef Seattle dog.
Forza Coffee at Greenlake
Tuesday is the busiest night in Seattle for trivia, but Forza distinguishes itself by offering a $15 price for the team that comes in second-to-last place—even dunces can have a good time. Don't worry, coffee isn't required; show up early to catch the last few minutes of the 5-7 weekday happy hour (3-5 on weekends) and order a $4 micro or a glass of wine. There's also a weekly drink special just for trivia. The games begins at 7 and the buy-in is $2 per person. Winner takes the pot; second place receives a $15 gift card.
Fremont's bar district is home to the Ballroom, where the pizza slices are as big as your head, and where trivia is always on Wednesday nights at 9pm. Pay $5 per team and compete for cash prizes; come early for happy hour or stick around afterward and partake in some free pool. Rotating drink specials for happy hour are on a monthly basis, this month it's Sparkle Donkey tequila cocktails for $4. Regular happy hour occurs Monday- Friday from 3 to 7. On offer are $4 pints, $5 wines, and a $6 Rainier tallboy and slice (cheese or pepperoni). Pizza slices start at $3 during the late-night happy hour, which runs 11- 1.
This Lower Queen Anne barbecue pit serves up trivia from 8-10 pm along with a taco deal—they're 3 for $2. Playing trivia is free, just respect the six-member team limit. First place wins $25 gift card, second place takes a $15 gift card, and second-to-last earns a pitcher of beer. Regular happy hour is 3-6 pm daily and offers $3 well drinks, $3.75 micros, and $4 house wines. Sliders and mini barbecue chicken pizzas are $3.
Trivia + karaoke = "Trivioke,” which consists of trivia at 8 followed by karaoke at 10. The trivia questions at this U District pub cater to pop-culture fiends with ample hormones. The first round is sexual trivia; let’s just leave it at that. Buy-in is $3 with a six-member team limit. First place takes all the money, second, third, and fourth place teams receive a drink special on the house. Losers are rewarded (or punished) with shots of Jager. During trivia $2.50 pints of PBR and Rainer are available (plus $7 pitchers) and wells are $4.
