Party in the Wings with 'Venus in Fur' and Seattle Met
Seattle Rep's soiree for patrons in their 20s and 30s offers drinks, a show, and an afterparty.
There are certainly plenty of 20 and 30 year olds who think theater is too stuffy for them. For those naysayers, we'd like to counter by presenting the Seattle Rep's Party in the Wings for Venus in Fur this Saturday, February 22. First off, Venus in Fur is anything but tame, dull theater fare. In the play, audition for an adaption of Venus in Fur unexpectedly escalates into a sexually charged and sadomasochistic game of cat and mouse between actress and playwright. Secondly, the Party in the Wings offers a chance to see theater and mingle over drinks with your contemporaries instead of only being surrounded by patrons your parents' or (in the case of matinees) your grandparents' age. And finally, Seattle Met is helping put on the event, and you think we're cool, right? (Right?)
As we've covered previously, Party in the Wings offers young theatergoers both a soiree with their peers and a look behind the scenes at Seattle Rep. Part of Club 20/30, the Rep's free benefit program for 20- and 30-somethings, the night features preshow cocktails, a performance of the risqué Venus in Fur, and a backstage afterparty with hors d’oeuvres, more cocktails, and music. Tickets for Venus in Fur's Party in the Wings are on sale for $60, and we'd love it if you'd join us.
