This Week in Happy Hour: New Year's Resolution Edition
In which we achieve dietary and drinky karmic harmony.
Does the barrage of New Year's cleanses, diets, and green juice recipes send you running to the liquor cabinet? Here, five bars that serve up greens (and other plant-based fare) alongside your beloved booze.
Plum Bistro This Capitol Hill favorite of vegans and omnivores alike features a special menu during its happy hour 4–10 Sundays and Mondays and 4–6 Tuesday through Friday. Snag plant-based dishes not available on the normal menu, burgers for $3, and $7 cocktails.
St. Dames Happy hour at the Ranier Valley all veggie joint is 4:30–7 Tuesday through Friday and 5–7 on Saturdays, and features $5 wells, select $5 wines, $3 microbrews, $2 Iron City beer, and $1 off all appetizers.
Georgetown Liquor Company Veggie inspired apps like spicy arugula artichoke dip with pita and veggie burger sliders are $6 during happy hour Monday through Friday 4–7. Drink specials include $1 off draft beers and $3 wells, with other appetizer specials on the menu as well.
Cafe Flora The chill vegetarian joint near the arboretum offers happy hour 3–6 Monday through Friday. Drink specials include $3 draft microbrews, $6 house red and white wines, and a $6 featured cocktail. On the recently launched small plates menu (not part of the happy hour but available 3pm to close), dishes range from $3–7. Featured right now: house pickled vegetables including sea beans, fennel, and jerusalem artichoke.
Chaco Canyon Happy hour at the University District (and West Seattle) smoothie and juice mecca happens 4–6 on weekdays and offers specials on organic beer ($4.25), cider ($5), and wine ($5) as well as 16 ounce versions of the house juice (apple, orange, carrot, and ginger) for $4.95, classic smoothies (banana, strawberry, almond) for $5.25, and the Really Green Smoothie (apple juice, banana, kale) for $5.25. Bring your own cup and save another $.25—and the environment.
