Tutta Bella: Bellevue
Heading east to Bellevue, Seattle’s popular certified Neapolitan-style pizza chain is now serving pies in a large space at the Crossroads Mall. Look for an all-weather patio, expanded bar program, and dedicated meeting rooms suitable for nearby Microsofties.
Kedai Makan’s owners are traveling to Malaysia and have let German food pop-up Dackel, and chef Josh Nebe, take over their shop on Denny while they're gone. Opening Thursday, January 16, Dackel has posted their interim schedule on Facebook.
Look out arteries. Top Pot released a maple-bacon doughnut in celebration of Elvis Presley’s birthday, January 8. This is something the later-in-life Las Vegas Elvis would have loved. Sadly, you'll have to wait until next year to get one.
The sound of crickets chirping at Shanik would be rare given that the South Lake Union modern Indian eatery is generally pretty crowded. But come January 16, a new menu will be introduced; on it will be the relative of the grasshopper, according to Eater Seattle.
The new Dominican eatery in Pioneer Square will be open for its first Seahawks game Saturday, January 11. Starting at 10 and closing at 1 (or until the food runs out), Manu Alfau will be serving his signature puerco asado sandwich with potato salad, plantain chips, and a Rainier for $15.
The owners behind the Great Nabob and the Leary Traveler have a new place opening in the spot that housed the late Montlake Alehouse. The new venture’s menu will focus on the gamey side of things, with ground buffalo, kangaroo sliders, and a roast goose pot pie, according to the Capitol Hill Seattle blog.
After closing her destination Orcas Island restaurant Allium, Lisa Nakamura is making plans for a new venture: a casual eatery built on Allium's most popular dish. Nakamura's still looking for a space, but in the meantime she's holding pop-up dinners to try out potential menu items at Miyabi 45th. Stay tuned for an opening date, likely later this year.
