Trend-focused (pun intended) spectacles chain See Eyewear has a new local outpost in the old Betsey Johnson space on Fifth Avenue.
Where on one hand we've seen an uptick in eyewear e-tailers like Seattle's own Rivet and Sway (actually, they're unique in that they're both online and off—and they only sell women's frames), See operates "exclusively offline," as I was told.
Go ahead and try to shop their site. It isn't going to happen.
Instead, to check out the current limited edition capsule collection by Project Runway all-star Mondo Guerra (pictured here), you'll have to take yourself inside and get comfortable.
The shop stocks only their own in-house styles, and uses the slogan "hip without the rip" to evoke the sensibility of their affordable (reasonably speaking) accessories.
Speaking of spectacles as accessories, the aforementioned Rivet and Sway has a new deal that, in their words, "inspires women to view eyewear as a fashion accessory." When you buy one pair of prescription glasses at $169, each additional purchase in the same order is $99.
Never have lenses played a bigger role in personal style, and, with these new additions, never have you had such ample opportunity to look smart.
